People want Abdul Kalam as Indian President

In the IBN-Express opinion poll, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam emerged as front runner in the race for Rashtrapati Bhavan. This poll was conducted on more than 3.4 lakh online voters over the last 15 days. People seem to want non-political person like Abdul Kalam as next India president. But Sonia Gandhi may want his dummy as next Indian president.

Winners of the IBN- Express – Loksatta opinion poll:

Abdul Kalam is the clear winner with 43% votes (1.46 lakh votes) while vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat came second with 30% votes. Infosys mentor N.R. Narayana Murthy came third with 18% votes.

Surprise of the poll is Sonia Gandhi’s choice Pranab Mukherjee got 1.3% votes only. Amitab Bachchan fared poorly with 1.45% votes.

But in India, political leaders rarely respect people’s opinion. As long as we have ignorant leaders like Sonia Gandhi, people should not expect better things. We saw these dirty politics in electing Indian president in Indira gandhi days, now in her daughter-in-law days. May her choice become another Fakhruddin-Ali and pay gratitude in the crucial time.

Bye! Bye! Kalam.

Times of India survey on Indian of the year

Amitab Bachchan Comfortably won the Indian of the year survey done by Times of India newspaper in five Indian Metros. Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar stood in the second place.

Business man of the year:

Anil Ambani was selected as Busines man of the year while Ratan Tata got second place.

Entertainer of the year:

Amitabh Bachchan got away with top rank and Tamil super star Rajnikant stood at second.

Sports person of the year:

Sachin tendulkar got first rank while tennis girl Sania Mirza got second place.

Politician of the year:

Sonia Gandhi ranked as number one politician in the Times poll and Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh second.

NRI of the year:

L.N.Mittal got first place.

My opinions:

This survey was done in only five metros and only among 1,000 voters. Even big cities like Hyderabd and Pune are not included in this survey. May be Times of India has got no funds to select more voters in other cities. Why did they do these rubbish surveys with very few voters?

If you really want to know the pulse of the Nation, do it sincerely.

I cann't understand why English media continuously neglect rural people and failed to predict the nation's mood. In 2004 Loksabha elections, they gave thumping victory to BJP. We all know what happened afterwards.

My advice to India media is don't fool people by publishing superficial and unauthentic surveys.

Vote for our Taj Mahal - New 7 Wonders

There is less than a year left to vote for the new Seven Wonders of the World.

The Taj is still strongly in the reckoning but needs all the votes it can get to make it to the final list of seven. New7Wonders describes Shah Jahan’s architectural paean to his beloved as the greatest symbol of love and passion. It is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Much in the fashion of a gigantic beauty pageant, 77 finalists were narrowed down to 21 this year, and the final seven will be chosen from among them. The Taj Mahal is one of the 21.

The campaign of Swiss non-profit organization New7Wonders began in 2000 and the announcement will be made on July 7, 2007 -- appropriately 07.07.07 - in Lisbon, Portugal.

About 20 million votes have already been received and the 21 finalists were those that had garnered the most votes till the end of 2005.

Apart from voting for a favourite wonder online or on telephone, one can also send in pictures of the 21 finalist monuments.

You can vote for the Taj Mahal, Symbol of Love at www.new7wonders.com

Vote for our Taj Mahal. It is the best and must see tourism spot for anyone.
